MemSQL (https://memsql.com) | Lisbon (Portugal), San Francisco and Seattle | Full Time

MemSQL is a database startup focused on high performance, hybrid workloads. Our customers include half of the top 10 US banks, 2 of the top 3 US telcos, and 12% of the fortune 100. You can read all about our product here: https://memsql.com/product.

Right now, we are in the process of building a next generation data platform capable of handling many different workloads in one system. Think about a massive company storing all of its data, operational or analytical together. That's the vision - if that resonates with you, say hello!

i'd avoid these guys. one of the shadiest "startusp" out there. they wasted 3-4 hours of my time and staff time by not screening resumes properly && their interview questions essentially illustrate how terribad their engi team is. even tho i actually passed the first round i barely did and it was like a hilariously difficult task, basically read through a fairly large project (old fork of memcached) and add a new feature-trust me when i say that 99% of people will fail @ this and it doesn't highlight a candidate's abilities if they do. Recruiter has also told me this company is not profitable despite claims of success with various "customers" (which i'll get to later)

their product essentially vaporware tech full of buzzwords with lots of falsifiable claims ("worlds fastest capable cloud database" yeah ok) and nobody that works there actually seems to motivated to work on the product anymore. they've been in business for 5 yrs but call themselves a startup & they only really hire shitty developers who perform well on algorithm related questions, like every other company, yet the problems they work on are extremely complicated--you would still need a PhD to work in this area effectively. finally, their hiring team is literally 4-5 engineers (i counted) who seem to have taken up the entire workload

a lot of the claims they make are completely bullshit, outright deceptive/fraudulent, like for example they try to pump up their product at https://www.memsql.com/customers/. under "customers" they list sony, but it's not actually a client of theirs. if you read closely it says they're basically saying they COULD provide a solution to Sony as a "media solution" but they're not actually a customer of memsql. then why is Sony listed under "customers" at all? this is insanely deceptive. the only clients they have are extremely small companies/startups and this is in line with them not being profitable yet.

tldr; avoid these guys--they're looking for really smart engineers who are typically juniors to work on a product that has very limited success in market and basically will fail in the next 5 years

Do you guys host interns over the fall semester?

We have in the past, usually on a case by case basis
