I agree. I don't think APIs should be copyrightable, but in a world where some little piece of a tune reminds of another tune and therefore is deemed infringing on copyright.. There is similar intellectual effort behind both. We will see what happens but I can see the argument why it should be copyrightable from a pure "intellectual property is property" standpoint.

But I also think that it is better for the world with much less copyright protection in general.
