I have had SanDisk, Kingston, and Sony cards die on me in a variety of devices from Pis to GoPros. Sonys were the fastest to die but retained read capability, where as the SanDisk just stopped functioning completely.

My most recent additions are a Samsung Evo card and a Samsung Endurance. I am curious to see which dies first.
