Yes. To put it succinctly: I may trust the current government to use this data for (mostly) good, but I don't trust all future governments.



A "government" is a big abstract entity that is made up of people and procedures. People come and go, and procedures/regulation are changed all the time without direct legislative efforts.

You don't have the knowledge to know if you trust "that" government or "another" government. The best solution for all is always be suspicious of concentrated power....especially power that involves state-sanctioned violence against you.
