Don't sell yourself short man. I'd value a self taught programmer in their 40s with an MBA over a recent MIT CS grad any day.
I've hired a few folks with "non-traditional" backgrounds and usually the biggest indicator of success is previous work experience, regardless of industry. Just having had to get things done on a deadline and communicating your progress are huge underrated skills that seem to come with age and experience more than anything else.
