Whenever you feel that way, tell yourself that 5% of humanity is fundamentally somewhere between horrible and really horrible, capable of doing bad things to their fellow humans without a moment's remorse. Do that while not forgetting that the other 95% isn't like that. You're mostly (not exclusively) going to hear from that 5% when it comes to criticism or hostile feedback, they're loud and they're mean, they often lust to harm others (the outward projection of their own internal issues). You'll far more rarely hear from the kinder 95%; I'd suspect that effect is in play here, as it so often is.
