It doesn’t matter how good the driver is, AI or human, if you unexpectedly walk right out in front of a car moving at 40mph it’s not going to be able to stop.

now the question is why is a car (autonomous or not) driving at 40mph on a road where people can be expected to walk right out in front of a car?

would you drive 40 mph down a city street with trucks and buses parked head to tail on both sides of the road?
