What if you already thought from the beginning that cars, including human-driven ones, and their infrastructure, were always a huge boondoggle (the grossest misallocation of resources in human history, as Jim Kunstler calls it), and an instrument that posits itself as the solution to a problem it caused (not unlike an addictive drug), and that meanwhile serves chiefly to centralize wealth and rend the social fabric?
