Commuting is on auto-pilot for many of us; you don't really remember how you got to work and I see people tying their shoelaces, calling, eating sandwiches, reading the paper, chatting on whatsapp all the time. Sure it's all illegal (in a lot of countries), but people are bored and drove that road 1000x.
