I work for part of government, on a project to modernise our data architecture so our analysts can use data more effectively using tools like R and Python.
I'm struggling to find high-quality resources (books, blogs, videos etc.) that give insight into truly modern approaches to data architecture, for large organisations that have access to public cloud resources like AWS.
In my research I perceive a split between traditional 'data warehousing' (dimensional modelling, OLAP cubes etc.) and newer 'big data'/cloud approaches. Textbooks seems to be more orientated around the traditional approach. Is this distinction real? Should I ignore some of these more traditional resources or are they still worth my time?
What are some high quality resources to help us get this right?
