At their scale, it's not about making it faster for the users. It's already fast enough. It's about making the clusters more efficient to save money. At this scale, they have already made things a lot fast for their users by throwing money at it.
That's not how this works, just because they improve internal infrastructure, does not mean it will translate directly to a visible layer an end-user will see.
