SUGGESTION: instead of using a backend to swift through the torrents, why not host an offline JSON, sqlite or whatever (maybe streaming) client-side data format of your choice that contains the entire index. This way the application is not only offline but can be easily hosted and replicated.

It will be offline and versioned. If the index is too large, than some splitting will be required but I think this is totally doable.
