You're throwing an extremely large class of music under the bus here.
I'd classify anything from New Order to Black Sun Empire as electronic and they couldn't be more different.
Decent electronic music doesn't mean that the same sort of repetitive beats are played at all times (though an occasional minimal techno day would definitely be a thing), rather that different genres are played on different occasions while excluding things like house music with auto tuned vocals.
The concept of building a bar around a genre of music is nothing new (see e.g. jazz and rock bars) and electronic music is more popular than ever.
Not really, it was a joke. But I commented as such, then that comment started getting down-votes, so I assume the people who down-voted the above comment weren't yet satisfied I'd been down-voted enough...
There's a lot of variety in electronic music. Lots of the popular stuff isn't great in my opinion but I find it hard to believe that you wouldn't like any of it.
I am aware of the variety of electronic music genres and artists. I still believe electronic music is the lowest tier. I consider top 40 to be better than most electronic music. I did go through an electronic music phase for a while, and I find that to really enjoy it, you must be high.
I don't want to bring the discussion off topic, but I find that hard to believe. Some good electronic artists that I enjoy are Aphex Twin, Boards of Canada, Burial, and The Avalanches. I agree that there is a lot of crappy electronic music on the internet but I think that's true of any genre. Why do you think its the lowest tier?
I'd say the Avalanches is mostly hip hop. Aphex Twin, Boards of Canada, I don't think they are any good or different that the other hundreds of artists in those genres.
Also, like a certain other genre (which I won't name in order to avoid more down-votes from offended fans), it has a habit of being mixed into other genres like a low quality spirit mixer...
