Yeah, I really hope Rust becomes the default C replacement. It's such a well-designed language, it's just very early in its development right now.

Rust seems very complex and C is more about simplicity (in the sense that K&R is a short read). Other languages with the same spirit of simplicity would be Tcl and perhaps Go. I just wish Go had more supported machine architectures.

My feeling is that one should use Python or Go to prototype a program, and then move to Rust to make it systems-ready.
