Respectfully, this is the FBI. They’re supposed to be the best of the best at what they do.
If they could not see this coming from 100 miles away and do SOMETHING, they are seriously incompetent and taking away their tools and funding doesn’t even matter anymore.
I’m currently traveling through Ethiopia, and it feels like 80% of the cars on the roads here are either BYD or some other Chinese maker I’ve never heard of. All EVs - and this is in a country with very unreliable power. Same thing in South Africa - the Chinese brands are absolutely massive and sell for about $25k for a fully modern car.
I don’t see this as fanaticism at all. No one could predict a billion people mindlessly scrolling tiktok in 2007. This is going to happen again, only 10x. Faster and more addictive, with content generated on the fly to be so addictive, you won’t be able to look away.
The reason, as always, is lack of FDA testing (not sure why they don’t test supplements), and the answer, as always, is more regulations. Although I doubt that will happen anytime soon.
I’ve made my career in startups (early employee of a success startup, founder of a failed startup, and now CTO of an early stage startup). Seems like the “cost” of starting something new is basically zero these days. You can “start” 5 different companies in an afternoon. The big differentiator is audience - if no one knows who you are, it’s so much harder to reach potential customers. I’d focus on building an audience first (LinkedIn/twitter), which will make things so much easier for you. You also don’t really need cofounders, it’s much faster building alone when you’re starting from zero.
