For years, the Federal government was paying telephone companies for their phone records. Not the calls themselves, just the metadata. I'm sure the capital driven companies get paid for providing the data, as a service fee.
It starts at a higher level in the development food chain. A.I. is owned by the Billionaires, and takes it's orders from them, directly, through bias, or limiting its scope.
Right on point. That is the true purpose of this 'new' push into A.I. Human moderators sometimes realize the censorship they are doing is wrong, and will slow walk or blatantly ignore censorship orders. A.I. will diligently delete anything it's told too.
But the real risk is that they can use it to upscale the Cambridge Analytica personality profiles for everyone, and create custom agents for every target that feeds them whatever content they need too manipulate there thinking and ultimately behavior. AKA MkUltra mind control.
What's frustrating is our society hasn't grappled with how to deal with that kind of psychological attack. People or corporations will find an "edge" that gives them an unbelievable amount of control over someone, to the point that it almost seems magic, like a spell has been cast. See any suicidal cult, or one that causes people to drain their bank account, or one that leads to the largest breach of American intelligence security in history, or one that convinces people to break into the capitol to try to lynch the VP.
Yet even if we persecute the cult leader, we still keep people entirely responsible for their own actions, and as a society accept none of the responsibility for failing to protect people from these sorts of psychological attacks.
I don't have a solution, I just wish this was studied more from a perspective of justice and sociology. How can we protect people from this? Is it possible to do so in a way that maintains some of the values of free speech and personal freedom that Americans value? After all, all Cambridge Analytica did was "say" very specifically convincing things on a massive, yet targeted, scale.
The public got a peek at it with Cambridge Analytica creating hundreds of thousands of personality profiles, they then used to create Trump's MAGA army of flying monkeys. The Democrats could have done something about it, and made it illegal, but instead they just decided to build there own armies of flying monkeys. Why? Because both sides are bought and paid for by the same rich parasites trying to reprogram us.
did democrats create flying monkey armies? I haven't seen anywhere near as much Democrat propaganda as Republican, which is probably why they keep losing. Only recently, once Republican policies came into effect and people experienced their consequences, did Republican votes decline.
Only because the U.S. and U.K. conspired against them. The French did everything they could to keep the fire burning, by hosting people from various countries to teach them about revolution. Organizing globally against the rich parasites was hard and expensive back then. Now the only hold back, is that the rich parasites own most of the internet.
But WE BUILT IT, and can take back the internet when we finally realize it's not dems vs reps, but rich vs poor. It's always been a class war, they just are much better at keeping us distracted.
I think we need reforms and I’m very much against the accumulation of power that we’ve allowed the billionaire class.
But the French Revolution is nothing to emulate. If you’ve read the history of the French Revolution you know that it quickly moved on from rich parasites to murdering and imprisoning people over minor philosophical differences and real or lack of perceived lack of enthusiasm for continued murder. And it eventually led to global war and attempted global conquest.
My original (admittedly tongue in cheek) comment is less of a value judgement, and more an observation that if the ruling class doesn't effectively walk the tightrope of exploiting while subduing people, then they stand to lose a whole lot.
Do you consider the possibility that the knowledge was intentionally suppressed, the seed poisoned, or Ego driven suppression? Simply looking at things clinically can obscure intentional deception, to slow progress. The concept is called an information hazard.
Consider during the cold war, that the U.S. created fake nuclear designs, then allowed them to fall into the hands of the KGB. The KGB and Russian nuclear engineers then wasted significant time trying to build nuclear devices that failed to work, and could have been dangerous.
Except it wasn't eradicated. It's still stored at the US's Fort Detrick, and in Russian and Chinese bioweapons facilities, too be released as a bioweapon, now that no one has natural immunity anymore.
Most people aren't vaccinated for smallpox, and only a very small amount of vaccine is even produced, mostly for medical and military people. Targetting is easy, here's your blanket while the power is out...
