Just get an individual account for that purpose?

Doesn't really solve the problem of backing up multiple machines spread over multiple sites for multiple people though.

Par for the course for John C. Dvorak. He's a very smart man but half the time I think he writes things like this to stir the pot.

I'm trying to understand why Stripe didn't send out an e-mail to all merchants before making this change. I, too, was blindsided.

Hm, we did send an email to all Checkout users. If you didn't get one, please let me know. (patrick@stripe.com.)

Reminds me of humans.txt.

This is so true!

So how do you go to the start/end of lines then?

There are 2 options (on applications which havn't overridden default key bindings) -

a) cmd-left arrow for beginning and cmd-right arrow for end of the line.

b)emacs key bindings are available as well control-a and control-e for the beginning and end of a line.

Option a) gets slightly complicated in text entry on edit controls of browsers which have the cmd-left arrow key mapped to previous page (Firefox). In addition, a lot of multiplatform software ends up making things behave like on Windows ( Microsoft Office being one) by overriding defaults for these keys and home and end keys do take you to the beginning and end of the line there.

I'm not sure this kind of information is really worth anything. Is it supposed to help measure productivity? I think it lacks context.

To my knowledge, Apple has never replied officially to any post on their company fora. It appears as though it is intended for Apple customers to communicate with others in the "community" - probably why they use that term in their fora. That aside, I've never understood their post policing strategy. Obviously someone at Apple has moderation duties.

I know. Apple's secrecy sucks in more way than one.

As a manager who has hired people before, I don't see how this could replace a traditional resume. Resumes allow for me to quickly evaluate a candidate. I really don't care what my potential candidate's social media history is or any other arbitrary information (badges are nice, but as a recruiter I wouldn't know the scale nor why I should care). I do think something better than a resume is worth looking into, but the execution has to be right.

I disagree with this. I think most people are not looking for a cable alternative, but an alternative to DSL. Fiber isn't really helping because it's rate limited by the ISP.
