I agree the problems you've mentioned here, but I don't think it's because of Figma or any tooling.

It's How Capitalism Works™

Pretty sure not everyone knows what "relax" means. People who overthink, people who go to therapy, people who have mental problems. Do you just tell them "come on, you KNOW what relax means!"

Even if you had a "natural convo" with them, you'll never know if they were STRUGGLING to have this "natural convo" with you.

I assume you work in software since this is HN. Never assume you know about your users. Please.

This is such an incredibly weird response, did you even read my comment properly?

You think people who go to therapy or overthink don’t even know what it is to relax? Not even that they can’t relax but that they don’t even know what it means?

I never said anything about perceiving anyone else’s struggle or issues… that’s an entirely different subject.

Hongkonger here. Lot of people can spend USD$3500 for a watch, gadget, or computer, AND still live in 200-300sqft apartments in HK. Doesn't make them "wealthy".

I don't know any world where spending that much in gadgets isn't for the wealthy. Yes, there are richer people out there. That is still a lot of money.

It's really not. Growing up, I had plenty of classmates who spent more than that on superficial car modifications while working a minimum wage job and whose family was on food stamps.

In one shot? That feels wrong. And is a poverty trap. :(

Lots of people on modest incomes buy gadgets on credit.

Having a 3k+ credit limit isn't that common, is it? And I don't know any consideration of the topic that doesn't treat credit cards as a problem/bad idea. Especially at that level.

The three main buttons for email: Reply, forward, delete looks exactly the same. From a UI standpoint, if all buttons look the same, the usability would be low.

I wonder why this decision is made? Probably to make it more "zen" like.

As an asian myself, I feel like this guy is feeding into the oriental fetish in the western market, or rather exploiting gimmicky eastern terminologies to justify his design(ugh). I mean fog is not a Japanese exclusive, why use Kiri? He's not even Japanese....and how the Daoist Way influenced your UI transitions again?

It's not all bad however, I can imagine the task focused modality and gestural language could be useful if translated into a productivity app, something like Jira or Notion, but decluttered.
