I suppose that my work as a coder would look equally odd and useless to someone looking at it from 1000 years ago, while being important and satisfying to me. I didn't sense any condescension in that.
This has been known for a long time and is why bodybuilders use nitric oxide supplements before workout. Whether that does what they’re hoping is not proven, but it’s common and popular.
