You can pay a spider some bugs, I don't think a human would be happy to receive just food as a payment method.

Maybe not today, but give it a couple more years of increased data center build outs and AI job displacement and maybe the math changes on this!

So we come back full circle to slavery

Honestly using people for cooling AI data centers feels more like the matrix.

I got a taste of Navicat (Paid Software) and I wish I hadn't because being able to control everything in one place with a good SSH support and wide support for all including SQlite and Redis in a unified interface, being able to transfer between servers and take dumps at the comfort of a single software feels like a blessing.

I suggested the Navicat team to put in Redis support in 2020 and they put in a ticket to their Dev team. And in 2023 they added support for Redis and emailing me back saying they did it and released it. I was kinda in disbelief and happy. But, I love their backup and restore option

Paid software can be good, the problem is that the incentives aren't for it to continue being good and improving over a long period of time. The paid products that are able to maintain quality and vision are the exception.

And free software is different somehow?

People's interests are fleeting.

Someone may be dedicated to doing something right for years, and then have kids...

It's different because if free software "dies" there are no victims, if there's community interest in the project you just fork it.

And having kids is of a completely different nature than having to appease investors quarterly.

Wish I didn’t read this cuz now I want redis support too.

Seconded, although some still go for under-the-counter 6 stage water filtration systems with a small tank for drinking water. There are also 4 stage filters for the water as soon as it enters the house (very basic ones that do not restrict the waterflow as much compared to the drinking water filters) and 2 stage under sink solutions you can use on a per-sink base. I have seen people use all kinds but rarely.

You could also argue the head compute does not make it faster tbh

We used DeepFreeze in our smartboards, It would lock onto a disk state and until unlocked would revert the system back to the locked state after every shutdown/reboot.

Could be in need of a thermal paste refresh etc.?

and redo the thermal paste

I'd like you to elaborate more on your answer

Yes pretty much. See the Windows 11 security vulnerability chaos going on.

Simply replacing the 3090's with 4090's would provide a major performance uplift assuming your model fits. (I have rented both 3090 and 4090 systems online for research, this comment is based on my personal experience, it is well worth the price increase and the hourly rate for the inference speed you get)

I am not a lawer, but shouldn't 4090s be worse since they don't have nvlink?

there are patched drivers for enabling p2p but if I remember correctly, they are still slower than having an nvlink
