Gmail, Google Play Store, Google Cloud, Google Drive, and Google Meet also suffered because of the Airtel Issue. DuckDuckGo's blockage could also be because of the same issue.

This is a vicious cycle actually.

Because there is precedent that the current govt bans everything that critizes them, people get hyper when some glitch happens.

then all the right wingers descend to blame the cynics 'oh they are anti national'

and cynics become worse cynics, 'see they ban everything and then abuse everyone who questions'

Kubernetes is insurance for companies against getting locked in proprietary technologies.

It also promotes immutable infrastructure and hence increases the portability. While some of the things like load balancers and ingress are controlled by cloud provider almost everything else can be seamlessly migrated to another cloud provider or on prem.

It makes dev, test, staging, prod environments consistent and also solves a lot of pain points of managing infrastructre at scale with autoscaling, auto healing and more. Istio adds a lot more kubernetes and makes the supporting microservices even easier.

Its going to be an important piece in Hybrid world as it brings a lot of standardization and consistency in two disparate environments.

Isnt this what google cloud shell + editor [1] already does ?

You always have an option of doing something of your own. For me I waited and switched different jobs for 10 years before realizing that perfect job could be a myth. I was most satisfied when I was building my own tech but then I am back in the race after working for myself for 2 years.

A good article indeed, i see that a lot of employees are confused about their stock options specially in emerging markets like India, where we have seen quite a few unicorns come up in last 3-5 years.

I also really like the advice about privately held companies, who want to remain private. Things get very tricky there and on top of that mostly no one understands what to do with the stock options.

Unless you are able to do a secondary sale of the stock options they dont carry any value and i don't think a lot of privately help companies allow that. Not to ignore the tax you have to pay when you want to buy stocks, even though you cannot sell it.

Love gitlab, hopefully we will get more and more services start supporting Gitlab now.

Thank you! We hope that too :)

we can now have one "click" deploy's.

That was my first thought as well! How much more satisfying than clicking a link in a UI.

There are so many players in the market for chat, the only goo reason for someone using imessage on android will be to chat with people on iphone's and mac.

In fact, this is probably the only reason, but a pretty significant one.

It's the reason my friends and I all use Hangouts. Basically there are plenty of IM/chat options but Hangouts is the default app on about half of our phones (those who use Android). The ones who use iOS can still install Hangouts and we can all use it in our Gmail browser tabs at work.

It could've easily gone the other way. I definitely favor Android in daily use but if there was an official iMessage client for Android I'd have been fine installing that and letting the iOS users run their default.

But since Apple never did open that up we default to Hangouts. We could run some other app instead but at least this way some of us don't need to install "yet another IM client".

The whole article seems exaggerated, Though the CPC prices have been rising at a very fast pace, there is a possibility they might get corrected in future.

On the other hand, the amount of money/funding in the market and a considerable amount being spent on advertising as its one of the easiest paid method to get traffic on your site.

Facebook on the other hand is bullish on mobile traffic, also since it being a relatively new the CPC's are cheaper there., but i dont think they have much more control as to who sees their adverts, fake clicks and profiles are everywhere.

The only area where both Facebook and Google are not market leaders is the programmatic side of advertising. Since it is so fragmented, there have been a lot of smaller players (trading desks and DSP's) taking advantage of that. Since these are relatively smaller companies they dont have such sophistication of fraud detection as google or fb leading to people gaming the system and loosing trust in them.

its not about governments anymore, private companies rule this game and will keep on the lead for some time.

We need to understand companies are the new governments.

Seconded. The companies have a larger GDP than most countries. So saying that it's the South Korean goverment is a bit of a misnomer. It's likely to be Samsung or someone like that.
