I highly recommend reading "Determined" by Robert Sapolsky.

Who said that government cannot compete with private companies on the free market? It is not like they banned notion, they simply released an alternative product. More competition means better outcome for the customers. But somehow you ended up saying this is communism. How you got there is completely beyond me.

> compete with private companies on the free market

It’s not a free market as soon as Gov’t start using text dollars. It’s also. It competition when one entity has zero risk and endless capital to spend on a project.

If a corporation did this, they’d be accused of being anti-competitive, not fostering competition.

Zero risk and endless capital is a more accurate description of VC than public works. No one gets voted out for investing in useless apps.

You mean the wars that USA mostly lost?

Besides, all NATO countries participate in missions all over the world, which includes Canada. Americans seem to have nation-wide amnesia forgetting how many allied soldiers died fighting side by side with them.

I don't understand the what-does-Trump-really-want guessing game other commentators are playing in. He clearly states what he wants: Canada as the 51st state.

Americans are about to learn that Canadians are not the polite people they think they are when things start to get real.

It is like those I-am-not-really-MAGA-pretenders forgot that Trump launched a nonsensical trade war against US allies, which has started all this drama in the first place.

Were you not able to order food before Uber/Grab?

Before the proliferation of Uber Eats, Doordash, GrubHub, etc, most of the places I've lived had 2 choices for delivered food: pizza and Chinese.

It has absolutely massively expanded the kinds of food I can get delivered living in a suburban bordering on rural area. It might be a different experience in cities where the population size made delivery reasonable for many restaurants to offer on their own.

Now if anyone solves the problem that for most cuisines ordered food is vastly inferior to freshly served meals. That would be revolutionary. Crisp fries and pizza. Noodles perfectly Al dente and risotto that has not started to thicken.

It's far from a perfect solution, but I applaud businesses that have tried to improve the situation through packaging changes. IHOP is a stand-out here, in my experience. Their packaging is very sturdy and isolates each component in its own space. I've occasionally been surprised at how hot the food is.

Hah. I went to find a picture and apparently they gave an award to the company that designed the packaging: https://www.directpackinc.com/2018-ihop-vendor-partner-year/

I am not in the US and yes, it is not a thing (though there was a pizza place that had phone order, but that's rather an exception).

"It's called consolidation. Strengthen governments and corporations, weaken individuals. With taxes this can be done imperceptibly over time."

Sure but if worker own businesses generate more profit for workers then the workers can use that wealth to buy, I mean lobby and later employ, officials just like other businesses no? I don't see why they cant do all the same corrupt regulatory capture stuff.

We are quit full ourselves with limited housing and services.

US elected a businessman that bankrupted a casino, so I guess that's what's going to happen to US: bankruptcy.

Because the input is a 2D picture not a 3D scene with all the coordinates and geometry information.
