how do we know that "clean energy" hasn't been artificially propped up to begin with? if we can burn coal much cleaner and more efficiently then so what? let's do it if it's cheaper. We can still develop new technologies, that won't stop regardless.

just like every politician there ever was?

lots of emotional liberals as well

if that were true, which it's not, what does it matter? it's not their country... sovereignty is a thing still

International treaties are a thing too - e.g. ANZUS treaty here in Australia at a time when China is sabre rattling in the region. We don't want a US president who is going to dismantle such treaties at a vital time.

So what? what does the United States care what anyone else thinks? We need to have a strong country first before we can share our prosperity. Nothing he has said is unreasonable...

So, outside of the war of Independence, can you show me a list of wars that the US has been involved in where they did NOT have any allied countries fighting alongside them? But lets just piss off all countries who have fought alongside the US in most of the conflicts in modern history anyway, because there can't be any negative ramifications, right?

Isolationist policies are great in theory. Just ask Kim whatsisname in North Korea how it is working out for him.

You're comparing "America First" to North Korean isolationism? That's not what he's saying. He's saying we need to be smart in our treaties and stop being the country that pays for everyone else. We have 20TRILLION in debt.

stayed in iraq longer, stop supporting the saudis, stop selling arms to saudi/rebel/others

Might want to brush up on your world affairs.

Iraq is a sovereign country. They asked the US to leave and quite rightly they did. And all of this happened under GWB's watch.

A permanent occupation of Iraq in a situation where you've intentionally broken relations with Iraq's large and powerful neighbor Saudi Arabia sounds like a recipe for much larger trouble than even current Syria!

it's relative though.. unless you can go back in time and ask them

+1 MAGA

it's called CTR

Is this being censored from the homepage? I'm surprised I'm not seeing Peter Thiel's speech on the homepage of HN.. seems fishy

No. This is the usual case of user flags and the flamewar software. See also https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=12738677.

Thanks for clarifying and providing the link!

Yes, anything about him is gone within 2-3 hours, I went so far as 5 pages past the homepage and all 6 items as I type this (https://hn.algolia.com/?query=peter&sort=byPopularity&prefix...), including this one that got a lot of votes, but also one of the 5 or so votes one that showed up on the home page for a tiny bit, have been disappeared.

Perhaps the mods will step in, assuming they aren't behind it; me, I wonder what'll happen to these people's minds if/when Trumps wins.... Nothing good, especially to those who's business includes needing to sell to ~half the country.

ADDED: And now it's flagged; guess he won't be getting to give his side of his story to the HN crowd.

Just speculating, but it may have been caught by the flamewar detection software. I don't know how it works. Here's a couple of mentions of it being used in the past:

I noticed that too. I had to go back in my history to find the link.

If true that only shows further how extreme the anti-Trump censors are that want to tell us how we should think. That is exactly why Trump will win.

Actually, if you read the guidelines, politics is considered off topic:

The resulting discussion here is all politics.

I think it's pretty fair considering his role in the Tech community

thats an interesting reflection thank you
