I do, that is why I noticed this in the first place haha, but maybe my filter selection (for EU) didn't catch whats put up here.. guess I got a glimpse of how bad the experience must be on most sites these days without ublock
Absolutely agree on the KDE Connect part, but can you share a few examples of the "ton of" bugs you don't like? As a long time user myself, with nothing really coming to my mind as outright bugs, I am genuinely interested
One bug that comes to mind is when you edit your profile in Konsole and click Apply, then close Konsole, the setting is lost. But if you click Ok instead of Apply, the setting is saved. However, sometimes the setting is saved when you click Apply. I think this bug has been around for years now.
Nothing major, but there are small annoyances like this that diminish my experience as a user. Still the best DE anyway.
Same in some parts of Germany. In the area where I grew up in you can tell in which village a person is from just by the way they talk, and the villages are just ~3 km apart!
From what I know this is because it was a relatively remote, dangerous and poor region (all by the standards of hundred years back) which changed ownership a lot (between clergy, bavaria, prussia) and people were mostly left to themselves
Good old https://linux.die.net/man/1/pdftotext and a little Python on top of its output will get you a long way if your documents are not too crazy. I use it to parse all my bank statements into an sqlite database for analysis.
Not sure about the intellectual part of it, but how to live a rich life? Surely not by secretly cherishing a feeling of superiority and sophistication because these sentiments will cut you out of a lot of insights and encounters that make your life rich. True, life is a farce in a lot of ways, but who cares? Accept it where you can't change it and find your own islands of happiness. These may be intellectual if you like, but don't expect the people around you to follow the same (high) standards, that will only make you unhappy.
Good insight about how feelings of 'superiority' or 'sophistication' can suck the joy out of life. I fell into this trap myself, and it took a long time to get out of it.
That said, there are times when a certain type of appreciation of 'sophistication' is warranted - you just shouldn't use it to believe you are therefore above other people, or beyond the simple pleasures of life.
I am using this in a simple containerized environment https://github.com/patrickziegler/letter (for reducing the amount of packages to update in my rolling release base system), it comes with the the added benefit of allowing me to put my documents under proper version control :)
