The blinken lights panel on the original machine was functional, each small cluster of processors controlled one LED and there was a microcode instruction for latching the LEDs.
We found this museum completely by accident on a visit to the US, and it is a delight. When I saw the Connection Machine all lit up, I squealed :)
It seems like the reason it's on like that is because it used to belong to the NSA so they took all the insides out and destroyed them when the machine was donated. The blinkenlights are driven by Raspberry Pis or something similar.
i think contiki needs less than 16k of ram to run a webserver, most of which is the tcp stack. my own httpdito is about 2k of code and uses a 1024-byte data buffer, but that's sweeping tcp under the linux kernel rug
this is just to say that you could probably have run a webserver on a pdp-8/s, which was about the size of an atx case and would be a reasonable controller to build into a phototypesetter at the time
Buy bitcoin and forget the debt, if possible. Preach to the next generation do not go to school (public school is marxist-originated gov't propaganda at it's core; if not then why does the law require you to go to school in some areas), do not acquire debt. Learn real skills and trades. Tune in, turn on, and drop out.
I was home schooled until 4th grade. I finished my schoolwork in 2 hours and then played outside and read the encyclopedia the rest of the day.
This isn’t exactly true. An industry consensus is demanded in the EU, that just happens to be USB-C ATM. The rules are flexible enough to allow for technology advance, as long as everyone does it all at once.
At the computer museum in Alpharetta Georgia, none of the computers are on but the connection machine panel is on.
