same here. using mac since OS9, and Tahoe is the first time i skipped a version (downgrade after 2 months)

Running Alpine Linux with a minimal window manager gives me similar RAM usage, about 150MB

This is quite good !

My Alpine Desktop (Root on ZFS, Wayland/Sway) starts with about 550MB

Ye gods, that's a lot. I run Xfce on Alpine on plain old ext4 and get 200MB or so used.

Cool idea but 16bit audio? I would not recommend anybody record at 16bit.

Ah good catch! I'm adding 24 bit as we speak!

I have updated the code to use 24bit/96khz sampling.

roughly up to 5-10 times the normal dose.

sounds "it's okey" ?

Nowhere near lifetime occupational dose limits.

To me it is less the fear of losing identity and income. These can be figured out if the system allows for it. But if the system will not allow for it, for example if we loose our Democratic system along the line, all bets are off.

Vote with your money and support open source software and hardware.

On the topic of old thinkpads, how are you all doing with the old batteries? I have 2 thinkpads, x220 and x230, both with removable batteries. When I leave home for longer I move these batteries to a place in the house where a battery fire would cause the least damage. Am I overthinking this?

If you're really concerned get a metal ammo box (they're like $15 at harbor freight in the US last I checked). I put my 40v ryobi tool batteries in these as they're known for going full firework.

Thanks, ordered!

What got me to go back is mostly UI and design related, but it was mostly stable. I just can't stand the new design. And Tahoe to me felt like I was less in control of the system compared to earlier versions.

On Tahoe I hardly notice liquid glass. The Dock and some buttons I guess. On iOS it's much more in your face, but I am getting used to it.

Seeing the glass buttons in front of a running movie is quite impressive.

Next version will probably "build on Liquid Glass", while moving away from it. At least that's my guess.

This is an example where LLM's really can help. I just went through that process myself for the first time and got that help.

It's an example where it can't really help unless you already have some idea what you've got to do. LLM will spit out everything from CPanel instructions to port forwarding when in the end the best way for a non-tech person would be to just dump the files on Neocities.
