BoB was somewhat like that too. They lost "brothers" along the way. While there are heroic deeds along the way, it shows the sad realities of war as well.
not directly related but strikes a similar chord, here in my country a lot of kids take up nursing so they can eventually get a job overseas. Once they graduate they need work experience before they can apply for jobs overseas so they work at local hospitals that give meager pay. Factoring in commute and meal expenses, they earn less than their living expenses. In a way, they are "paying" for this privilege of getting the experience necessary to move on and take a shot at a better life outside the country.
Overall from recent experience, I've had better luck in LinkedIn compared to other platforms. The time you send your application matters too. I filter out job postings when they are over a week old. There's usually no point being 100th in line.
Same here. I would prefer someone who uses any / all tools at their disposal to accomplish the objectives. I also do recognize that there is a chance that someone blindly using generated code (the new version of copy/pasting from StackOverflow). The results of those will surface at some point or the other.
I would say it depends on what you put into the word "refuse". If the person was blindly refusing it, they are likely not good. But I do refuse it after careful consideration (100+ hours of actual experimentation)...
As said, as a brainstorming tool, I find it kinda valuable as a code-helping tool, not really..
The practical "solution" (if one can even call it that) is to carry on. If you can afford it or if it is seriously affecting your wellbeing, just quit and look for a new job. If you can't, just carry on until you find a job.
LinkedIn. I filter job postings made within the last 24 hours only. Based on past experience, the further back I was at the applicant line, the smaller the chances for getting past the initial quick scan/screen
Bought a replacement battery battery for my wife's mid 2012 MBP. It was really slow even even after I upgraded RAM to 16GB and put in an SSD. Replacing the battery restored the performance.
