According to the inflation calculator at bls.gov, $2000 in June 2005 has the same buying power as $3,317 in June 2025. So in real terms the price is about the same.

Do you have an iPhone? Safari for iOS deletes all cookies older than a week unless you add the site to your home screen.

Whoa, is that right, I somehow never knew this. Why does it do that, does it still make sense if 3rd party cookies are disabled? And is there a way to disable it apart from the add to home screen?

Utilities and common carriers are examples. Porn and Cannabis businesses have no trouble getting electric, water, and telephone services.

In the USA at least, you can even steal electricity and be convicted of the crime and they still have to provide you with service, they just put your meter up on the pole.

The White House is pushing the "lab leak" consipriacy theory. https://www.whitehouse.gov/lab-leak-true-origins-of-covid-19...

Here's a good review of the science, which contradicts the assertions made above: https://www.annualreviews.org/content/journals/10.1146/annur...

For someone like you that knows how to write software an LLM is amazing at helping you step out into an unfamiliar area like web development or making plugins for a different ecosystem. You tell it what you're trying to do and it knows specifically which classes to instantiate, functions to call, etc...

Really appreciate that! It gives me hope. Right now, I’m not in the headspace to pick up new coding skills. I’m more focused on processing everything emotionally and capturing/archiving it in a YouTube video (YT: CAD老狗). But yeah, I’ll definitely try it soon.Thank you!

Nature is literally the worlds top scientific journal. This action by RFK/HHS is not in good faith.

Yes the machines let you place track markers and the next/prev track button would seek to them. Not as quickly as a CD, of course.

> Therefore it is necessary to arrive at a first mover, put in motion by no other; and this everyone understands to be God.

> Therefore it is necessary to admit a first efficient cause, to which everyone gives the name of God.

> Therefore we cannot but postulate the existence of some being having of itself its own necessity, and not receiving it from another, but rather causing in others their necessity. This all men speak of as God.

> Therefore there must also be something which is to all beings the cause of their being, goodness, and every other perfection; and this we call God.

> Therefore some intelligent being exists by whom all natural things are directed to their end; and this being we call God.

So he argues that there is a first mover, a first efficient cause, an independent necessary being, a cause of all other beings, and an intelligent director but he just assumes that each of those things is the god he believes in who has a son named Jesus, etc...

Well, maybe his assumption is wrong and those things are actually aspects of Mother Nature, or an Invisible Pink Unicorn, or The Five Fairies. How could we possibly tell the difference?

Right that's one thing I never understood about these theological arguments, if there is a cause of everything, why can't there be more than one cause?

And if we assume or believe that there is a single cause for everyting, how does the rest of the stuff like " must also be something which is to all beings the cause of their being, goodness, and every other perfection; and this we call God" follow from that?

They BELIEVE there is a single cause for everything but why do they believe that? I assume because they WANT to believe it. But even so what makes them believe that "single cause" is "the cause of their being, goodness, and every other perfection"? What about all the imperfections? Oh, it must be the Devil. Then why did God create Devil? (Or is Devil perhaps a 2nd God?)

It seems we just created "Devil" because we could not otherwise explain "God". And all the while we were quite confident that, we simply cannot be wrong. :-)
