Right! And what it 'really' is will push the philosophical 'hard problem' of consciousness. Will we be able to penetrate something human-like to know if it is conscious?
A reasonably precise although not universal definition could be to take the data points from the study in relation to the use of those terms in the study.
I think the main idea though is that there is some structure in the memory that resembles a structure in the real world to some meaningful degree. One aspect of this is composition, the other is how closely it maps to the real world.
If it were literally just a lookup table where the indices did not correspond to physical proximity then it would definitely not be valid to say that this was really a world model in that context.
Agreed. You simply cannot pause an emerging technology as powerful as AI. We all know the US Government will not stop especially within defense circles much less other countries. This same dilemma has appeared multiple times and just has to evolve through learning and development.
Agreed - I have the very same issue as well. Google Keep is my goto mobile app for most of my note capture just due to its speed and ease of use. Now I have a few github utilities to download my Keep notes to markdown for Obsidian use later - but that isn't really ideal yet.
PS - all I can say about Canvas is 'wow'!!! Awesome feature!
I just thought it seemed a bit odd to me to have the project tied to large organizations in China so much. I’m not saying to “buy American” but I do think it’s reasonable to be perplexed.
I don't want to defend that company or the product, or the country they operate from, but the source code is all on github under a permissive license and thus can easily be auditioned for government backdoors. Where's the problem?
