Hello, I'm a web programmer from Veliky Novgorod, Russia. I decided to create a catalog of cafes in my city, make it popular among tourists and local residents, and then charge monthly fee from the cafes.
We also try to make money by producing brochure for tourists and distribute it via administration of the city and hotels.
Top two features yet to be implemented are reviews and interactive menus.
Сайт слишком похож на брошюру и глаза разбегаются по фоткам. Стиль минимализм (как у Apple) более практичен.
Translation: the site looks like brochureware and eyes wander about without finding a place to focus. Changing to a more minimalist design (like Apple's) would be more appropriate.
I wouldn't be using this. Because static screenshots doesn't cover testing of dynamic behavior. For example when testing liquid layout I should be able to resize the window. Not mentioning testing hover effects on links or javascript effects.
Another big drawback would be the load times for the screenshots.
When I make a change in Textmate, I can cmd-tab into VMWare and refresh the browser in a couple seconds. I don't have to wait for the server to respond and download the images.
Once I've been using free wireless in the JFK airport. But my laptop ran out of the power. I found power socket in the floor near the phone booth, and plugged in my laptop. After some time security guy came and told me that I shouldn't do that.
So when I was passing to the plain, they looked through all stuff from my luggage. Then they apologized "for the mess"
I've never had issues plugging in at JFK (or ROC - the two airports I fly between). A security guard has politely asked me to move before, but that usually happens when I start hogging the outlet for > an hour (layovers, wait before flight if its a long flight, etc). And I can understand wanting to keep the outlets free incase someone else needs to use it; usable outlets are sparsely spread out at airports.
I just cross my fingers hoping this ain't gonna happen to our customer's site (Cluster #: 1 Storage #: 4). Maybe they will become a better hosting after all.
