Pardon my ignorance on the topic, but are there any commercially available (enterprise grade) products for Wi-Fi over Coax?

If this is used for “back-haul”, what is the key differentiator between this and MoCa (or similarly Ethernet over Powerline)

Well if you want one difference this won't throw RF hash all over the spectrum like ethernet over powerline does.

There are some relevant information that must be taken in consideration.

Brazil has about 66.3% of its overall land in a “reserved/protected” state, which is protected by law.

Source: https://agroecologia.org.br/2019/01/14/censo-agropecuario-de...

This is over 631 million hectares of land destined for preservation, Equivalent to 48 European countries COMBINED.

Amazon is not just IN BRAZIL, but spans over 9 nations.

No, I am not saying that’s a “green light” for full on deforestation nor I am saying that Brazil is doing a the most fantastic job preserving it.

What I am saying is that Brazil IS doing something to preserve the Amazon AND other forest land such as “Serra do Mar” and that a coalition of funds/resources could help improve enforcement of the law in these Protected areas. This much more “attainable” or acceptable by the current Brazilian government, which is currently very nationalist and patriotic. (President is retired Army captain, very right wing)

Brazil would not part/sell with a piece of its national sovereign territory to anyone, even if it’s for a “greater good”, just as US would not sell the Tongass forest in Alaska or the Humboldt-Toiyabe in California/Nevada “for greater good”

Every country has it’s share in controlling carbon emissions and global warming. No country should “outsource” their share of responsibility by enforcing environmental protection standards they are not willing to withhold themselves.

TL;DR: Brazil has some protections in place, could use some help, would not sell the Amazon because it’s part/territory of Brazil and 8 other countries.

Full disclosure: Brazilian by birth, American by choice

There may be some protections in place, but President Jair Bolsonaro just forced scientist Ricardo Galvão to resign from the National Space Research Agency for having the audacity to report an 88% annual increase in deforestation in satellite data. The President called the numbers a lie.

One can understand how this attitude undermines the integrity of the reserve.

I love the concept. Anybody knows if there are similar offerings from Azure or Google Cloud?

Azure has RemoteApp.

Hello,

This looks awesome.

When could we expect a Windows 7/8 app ?

Congrats

Probably. At this point we are testings things out and want to move as fast as possible. We want to make Two-Factor Authentication completely transparent, and we'll be launching other exciting things to see how they work in the real world.

Once we have the experience nailed out, we'll ported to other platforms.

I hope you are planning a Linux release too. So many companies leave us out, even though we're even more willing to work past bugs and set things up correctly.

Presumably their is an HTML5 app available?

+1

Same. It'd be helpful if they'd have a permalink for the email, as I'd imagine a lot of developers (including myself) have/will post to hacker news.

I figure that's probably why they don't have a link for the e-mail - they don't want their developers posting it publicly.

I LOOOOVEEE the output. Nice, colorful and significant.

if you want to link it to your /usr/local/bin directory.. just modify the xctool.sh XCTOOL_DIR=path/where/xctool/is/located

Now... if only i could figure out how to use the xctool with Fortify....

I have been a happy Hetzner customer for the past year.

I have a EX 4S server, with 32GB memory, 2x 3TB Hard Drives in Raid 1 and core I7. I installed VMWare ESX 5 on this machine and this is essentially my test lab on the cloud ( I am an information security engineer).

So, for the past year, I am able to host :

* Windows 2008 serverS (note the S, I have 4 of them running right now)

* a virtualized firewall (PFSENSE),

* one of the windows 2008 is my M$ Dev server (Visual Studio 2010 and 2012)

* several linux machines (backtrack, ubuntu server for zabbix, ubuntu 12.04 for all the atlassian suite),

* OpenVPN vpn server in debian

* FreeNAS machine

* Many other machines which I start and stop as I please, for testing purposes.

All this + 14 public IPV4 and a /64 public ipv6 for ONLY $109 dollars a month.

I don't have much latency issues and this machine is what has allowed me to drop my loaded desktop and work with just my rMBP because I have all the power I need for my work at just a SSH or RDP distance.

I suggest trying them out, specially the EX 5, which only costs 59 EUROS. Don't forget that if you are not in the Europe, you don't pay VAT (so it's another 19% discount)

Let me know if you have any specific questions. Too bad they don't have coupons or referrals :)

It is a nice perspective to see that other people also live "The American Dream".

I am brazilian, born and raised in Brazil, but had the privilege of coming here twice (Disney) when I was a teenager. This was when I decided to eventually move to US at my first opportunity (20 years old).

It was for sure, the best decision of my life since the opportunities and lifestyle that I have here in US are simply just short of impossible back in Brazil. 7 Years in US gave me the opportunity to really grow professionally and personally.

I think my story is the similar to Danilo's…. Great parents, great support and education when growing up but ultimately, after age 17, "you are by yourself", which also includes paying for you college education if you want one.

For enabling me to get amazing education with scholarships and free content made available by US Colleges and Universities, also to accepting me as one of your own, THANK YOU AMERICA !

There is actually a crawler for "Machines and Devices", such as routers, IP Phones, WebCams, Dell Dracs, HP ILO , VMWARE ESX and so on.

http://www.shodanhq.com/browse

Also, check your server ip on Shodan to see if your firewall rules are not exposing a little to much

My Retina Macbook Pro 13" is my main machine and I connect 2 27" Viewsonic monitors to it daily. It works just fine for everyday work (iterm, vim, intellij, rdp and office apps)

If only it had 16GB (not available on the 13" rMBP model), it would be the perfect laptop
