You'd be surprised how many people run 'npm i' in their CI. I've seen this on multiple occasions.

'npm ci' is some mitigation, but doesn't protect against getting hit when running 'npm i(nstall)' during development.

Update your knowledge. ”npm install” hasn’t done auto-upgrades for years now.

Would an airtight container and liberal addition of dessicants help?

Sure. Just make sure the drive is warm before you take it out of the container - because this is when the critical condensation happens: you take out a cold drive an expose it to humid room temperature air. Then water condenses on (and in) the cold drive.

Re-freezing is also critical, the container should contain no humid air when it goes into the freezer, because the water will condense and freeze as the container cools. A tightly wrapped bag, desiccant and/or purging the container with dry gas would prevent that.

A vacuum sealer would probably help to avoid the humid air, too.

Only if you wait for the drive to heat up before you remove the vacuum seal.

Be careful, airtight doesn’t mean it’s not moisture permeable over time.

Color changing desiccant is a good idea to monitor it.

Really funny on a farm when you see young calves "kissing" i.e. stick their noses/mouths together and lick each other's noses.

The manual for a human body says several hours of exercise per day.

Children try to follow it, but it's being made hard for them, and by the time you're an adult most have learned to forget the natural instincts for movement and how much fun you can have doing physical exercise.

never understood the physical exercise is fun thing.

i do it but it's just pure pain. i guess people are wired differently.

There is a theory that testosterone makes physical exercise fun. No idea if it's true, or to what extent.

Anyway it's completely possible you just didn't find the right physical activity yet. It took me some years to realize that I have to exercise alone and outdoors.

Finding enjoyment in things that are difficult or painful is the probably highest impact quality of life lesson you can learn.

that sounds like masochism, or some kind of rationalization.

It depends on what you're doing. I could play sports for hours and completely lose my sense of time. If I had to run on a treadmill for 20 minutes I'd die of boredom.

Not to give any ideas, but a likely outcome is a US-based fork that has the offending bias removed, with a "ministry of truth"-y name.

This is exactly what Russia did, but said fork is not particularly popular AFAIK.

That's certainly not the only (and I'd also not put it as primary) reason for extending the lifespan.

Still, breaking one's hip in advanced age is often a death sentence as many people never get out of bed again.

When an old person breaks their hip around here, people say something along the lines of "we'd better hurry up for visiting them one last time".

There's also a lot of reverse causation here. Healthy people don't fall very often and when they do they generally don't break their hips. Falling frequently and suffering broken hips when falling are both general signs of poor systemic health and overall fragility which portend a short remaining lifespan regardless.

This is fun - and really powerful.

In some way, multicellular lifeforms (like a cherry tree or a human) also have to contain a kind of formulation like this so that they result in the fractals of branches and blood vessels as well as the overall structure.

Really ironic that Britain left the EU, but is even further ahead down this road. British humour I guess.

Can you imagine the UK having a vote in all of this? Terrifying.

The chat control bill also has age verification to identify child users.

I think the point was that the law is not in effect just yet.

Hopefully it doesn't get implemented, but obviously they could force OS providers to implement this in Android and iOS.

Power wants to stay in power.

In a healthy society, citizens should always be wary of those in power and keep them on their toes, because power corrupts (and attracts already problematic characters).

Not driveling when they get thrown some crumbs or empty phrases ("child safety", "terrorism").
