Some recent asus ROG/TUF 2022+ models have fine tuning available via "armoury crate" or "g-helper" (non-proprietary, fan/community supported, code on github).

Disabling a dGpu and reducing power can yeld some impressive results for battery life. Allows also defining fan speed curves depending on temperature.

Would be safer to just change your passwords. If they are old, even better to change them right now.

I have 388 items in my password manager. 138 of them use my email address which was found in this breach :(

Not that you're wrong, but there is no reasonable way to rotate all of those. I guess I'll have to spend a few hours manually going through the ones I care about and rotating them?

Understanding which of your accounts is valuable, and which isn't, is a worthwhile task in itself.

Is that the point? People want to know the source. I have rights under the GDPR that companies should be treating my data securely. I want to know who was compromised.

This particular dataset appears to have been collected by malware. So it wasn't a breached company, it was malware on some machine that impacted users used that logged usernames/passwords.

That's also useful as it might lead to clues to identifying a potentially compromised machine

I think the same malware that had breached my data awhile ago "Polish Credentials" is apart of this because the same old user:pass pairs so maybe its a bunch of data from multiple breaches if you were in the polish breach it dumped your google saved passwords so that would be whats affected

They did publish the code for World in Conflict online server (initially made by Massive Entertainment), and a few other tools https://github.com/ubisoft

There was a research in 2011 about using the accelerometer to log your keystrokes https://www.extremetech.com/internet/92946-a-wiggly-approach...

And if someone doubts this, remember the Mirai botnet.

And then Blizzard updated the user agreement (around the Warcraft 3 Reforged), mentioning that all player generated content is owned by the company.

So in case some genius comes with another successful custom map (or whatever), the company has new ideas to work on, for free.

I believe they updated the EULA long before that, but Reforged got a lot of press about it since it represents such a contrast between yesterday's games and today's.

I wonder if any Adobe users have tried some other options for some programs (Gimp, Inkscape, Krita), and if suits their needs.

I've tried Inkscape and GIMP. I'm sure they must be great pieces of software, but their usability is so awful it renders them useless for me. And they're not great options if your client provides/asks for adobe proprietary files (psds, ais...)

GIMP is a non-starter, no CMYK, no Adjustment Layers.

> I paid for the game and i should be able to do whatever i want with it within the confines of my own computer.

Most of the time you buy a one time license to use the software, which is tied to your account and platform.

It's still your platform, though. "License" is not a contract, you paid them not the other way around. What they are doing is probably illegal nevermind immoral.

I.e. it is a form of slavery, which I guess you are paying for? Which is a type of scam. The mgmt who work at these AAA shops belong in the dumpster bin of humanity.

You hand over rights to your platform which you, not they, bought and paid for, and provide them with lucrative information, and are now bound to do whatever they say? Some hot nonsense, if I ever heard it.

Then why buy the game? It’s not like it’s a new thing for Blizzard/Activision/EA. It’s literally some unholy trifecta that I just do not buy games from any more.

"Then why buy the game?"

While I agree you "shouldn't" buy the game, we shouldn't even be giving legitimacy to these practices at all. We generally try to prosecute snake-oil salesmen, shutdown hucksters, put con-men out of business, etc..

There are unfortunately many reasons why people might buy the game - false advertising, lack of proper research, peer pressure from a poorly informed populous. You may be tempted to say "you should do your research", and while I agree you generally should, its also true its impractical to research everything. The same way I shouldn't have to go into a grocery store and have to worry about if the peanut butter is poisoned with salmonella, a consumer be able to purchase a product, and have the reasonable expectation that they can do what they want with the product within the confines of their own home.

Finding out after you have purchased a game that it is arbitrarily locked down, and that you have little recourse to get your money back, is a form of fraud.

Yeah, even though I did know, inertia kept me going, still buying both StarCraft 2 (and expansions) and Diablo 3 (and expansions)...

> (as Salesforce employees could not access this benefit)

Why not give this benefit as well to Salesforce employees?

There are some apps (like Intra) which allow you to connect to a built-in (cloudflare, google) or custom DoH server (your own or other providers which support DoH).

Nextdns have their own app for this as well.

For android 9 or higher there should be an option in network settings.

Right, I specifically use DoH with Cloudflare on my phone. I'm talking about the "we don't need this" reply above, which is a suggestion for tinkerers, not a good recommendation for general population.
