"It’s Always Darkest Before the Dawn"

No buddy it's not. It's darkest at midnight not before dawn. Try again...

You do know that Schrute Facts like http://www.quickmeme.com/img/72/725fc27cb2efcb89cbde96955e32... are a joke, right?

Midnight is before dawn...

I've always been a huge fan of "the underdog" Sure this isn't an Apple Watch or a Moto 360, but Pebble has truly created a beautiful product and I respect that. Great work to the guys at Pebble.

If the screen is anything like the Pebble Time it wont be beautiful. I love my PT but depending on the watchface the screen isn't easily readable in anything other than outdoor or very bright indoor lighting. There's a light up button, that helps. The colors are also very muted.

The value of a Pebble watch in my opinion is all in its practical utility, where it really shines. I have been careful to manage what sends my watch notifications and as such whenever my wrist feels buzzing there's something that I need to check. I can do so quickly without needing to pull my phone out of my bag. The time view for what I need to do next is very awesome.

Ultimately my Pebble Time saves me time, makes sure I don't miss important messages or events and it saves my phone's battery life since I check it much less often.

Reports are that the Pebble Time Steel, which uses the same screen tech, is much more vibrant than the Pebble Time due to the optical bonding. The PT Round looks to also use that same technique due to its thinness, so I expect it will look quite good.

Aha! I do own the Pebble Time Steel and couldn't identify with the issue of the poorly readable screen. I find it reads very well in direct sunlight, and when it's dark there's always the light button. I guess this explains the complaints.

For me the issues is the bezel. It's so big that it makes the phone big while simultaneously making the screen tiny.

The Pebble Time Round would arguably be the best looking smart watch if the bezels were close to zero. Now they are around half the surface area, I wonder if that's really technically necessary..

My Pebble Steel lets me flick my wrist to enable the backlight. Does the Time not do that?

The Pebble Time Steel definitely does. I assume the regular Time is the same.

yes it does. Alternatively hitting the backbutton also hits the backlight.

I've had some readability issues, but with the backlight I've never had any issues. The price to pay for a long battery life I guess.

Watch kids press these uncontrolably.

This made my friday morning coffee about ten times better. I work on Victoria Street, right in front of Westminster Cathedral and find this extremely fascinating and at the same time intriguing. Next time I walk out for lunch, I'll keep an eye on the sites mentioned. Thanks for sharing!

Given the timeliness with reference to ebola, perhaps it's time to consider options for a guerrilla art installation?

... request an invitation? Please, who do they think they are, Google? Or maybe expecting super long lines at their upcoming retail stores in NY?

Come on Amazon, do yourself a favour and come up with things that matter.

Maybe if they had used invitations to gauge market interest they wouldn't have a quarter million unsold fire phones sitting in a warehouse.

I logged in to request an invite, then it removed the option ... they know too much already!

Here is the link to the Jawbone.com

I think this paints a better picture of the product:

I've always been a fan of Jawbone for it's design centric approach. Their UP and UP24 are both eye catchening and intriguing. But I'm afraid their new UP3 is a bit dissapointing, not to mention the price tag. Perhaps they rushed development to catch up with other players entering the market? Am I the only one here? It's pretty terrible.

Also, the puffery: The most advanced activity tracker known to man, UP3™ is packed with state-of-the-art sensors that give you the full picture of your health.

Someone in the marketing department should go back to the basics, we are now much more educated consumers and we don't fall for these cute bold statements anymore.

Plus let's face it, we'll soon be inbetween an Apple Watch or Moto 360, especially when these reach the $200-$250 price range in a couple of years. Thinking out loud here.
