I bought an Imsai8080 replica from https://thehighnibble.com/imsai8080/ I had a really nice time building the kit, toggle switches and display leds look exactly like original ones. Internally is an emulation of the IMSAI 8080 based on the ESP32 microcontroller

You may also find a more faithful replica of the Altair 8800 here https://altairclone.com/ though admittedly the IMSAI with its big coloured toggles is much more eye-catching.

Less faithful replica of the Altair, but much more affordable: https://www.adwaterandstir.com/altair/

There's also a very affordable (< $100, including the needed Arduino DUE) workalike that pops up on eBay every now and again...I bought one: https://imgur.com/a/qntqSMG

A few pics of my Altair mini build here. The kits seems no longer available.

What kinds of things do you plan to do with it?

Basically have fun playing around with it in the same way as with a real IMSAI8080... As an example look at this video on how to enter and run a small assembler program using the switches. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xYNAMKPBSFI

Noting you can also hook up a console and use it like any other CP/M machine...run WordStar, Zork, etc.

I bought one of those too. Probably finish up the build this weekend.

I also started with a notebook, before getting a commodore vic-20. Pencil and Basic, you were the CPU.

Nice one. I read every computer book and magazine in the library, years before I could get a computer. Then my parents and I split the $99 for an Australian made VZ-300, with a z80 and 16kb ram. To write in assembly, you needed a 16kb addon. Loved it.

I've been using this online training for long time already. I would say it's not only for beginners but also for intermediate levels too. It covers many different guitar styles. During this long time I've seen how the page positively evolved and I'm happy to see how one person (justin) which is doing a superb job in giving those lessons for free is getting more and more attention. This is in my opinion a good example of how perseverance, free content and love for what you do can at then end pay back with a very good reputation from users and I guess good money with the selling of same free online content but as DVDs,books, etc

Awesome. One issue found, a hotmail.es was suggesting a hotmail.fr domain

Thanks. The online game is at: http://www.tengaged.com

It's inversely proportional to the money received by a VC. That's why it's a must to have your startup as small as possible.

I believe programming will be some day a mandatory subject in schools. Not like everybody needs to be an expert but at least some basic knowledge of it.

It was when I was at school 20years ago.

And the ability to write

10 print "I am great" 20 goto 10

has led directly to the wide understanding of technology and the rational approach to science and computers we see today among both the general population and our political leaders.

Oddly, I seem to recall print statements which were less focused on the positive qualities of the code's author, and more focused on the negative qualities of other individuals.

But maybe that's just me. Not everybody had an older brother.

Where did you go to school? It's not on the Ohio standard curriculum.

Or any pushed through with NCLB, to my knowledge.

just those 2 lines of basic made thousands of developers

Stop thinking about new ideas and start getting deeper in the first thing that comes to your mind. Iterate through it, don't develop yet. Be at least one/two weeks thinking only about it, Can it be extrapolated to something else?, How would you do it?, Improve it in your mind, iterate few times, find which niche could fit. Start implementing it... and iterate again, and again.

After a few weeks you will get a deep understanding on it... ideas will flow.

I enjoy coding my own ideas and not that much others ideas. Basically from 9 to 5 I just code, from 5 to 10 I enjoy (coding).

I think the idea is great and site looks very nice. Only problem I see is the name "printingfacebook.com" as it may cause some branding issues with facebook.

Neat idea ... but I'd be amazed if you don't get a trademark infringement letter from Facebook. You just can't use their logo as part of your own.

thanks!, in terms of the branding issues w/ facebook, i could see that, but if i ever got big enough to have problems... i think i would be happy. I guess i chose the name for SEO, but when i start offering print services for other networks, i'll rebrand under a more unique name.

if printingfb.com is available, you could use that.

How do you handle printing? by yourself or is there a company that provides such printing services?

Thanks for sharing your idea about alternative domain names, but I think a public comment is not the best way to do that.

Someone else might grab it before the author can -- therefore please suggest domain names directly to the respective author via email. (I know benjamins email is not in his profile/website, but a whois reveals it).

I just registered printingfb.com to save it, just in case. Benjamin, you can go ahead and contact me at the email address in my profile, and I'll transfer the domain over to you free of charge.

BTW, awesome idea.
