that is remarkably different from building your own CELLS. You are building your own pack in whatever series and parallel configuration you want. Which i agree is fun and a good skill
Here I thought you were about to link something genuinely bad, like a sexual allegation, and you link him creating a blockchain coin (that was probably indeed useless) in 2020 at a time when all anyone was talking about in tech was how the blockchain was going to change everything and EVERYONE was launching blockchain-based apps.
Do you really think he did this with bad intentions? He almost certainly just thought it was cool and maybe would be useful or profitable. There's no reason to frame this as if it's a reason to ignore everything else about him. Completely disingenuous. Honestly shame on you imo. As if everyone who bought into the blockchain hype is a bad person.
I hope by the time you're 75 you don't have people linking a single failure to sum up and dismiss your entire character and the work of your entire lifetime.
It's kind of nostalgic. Man, back in the day people would flip out on you if you used the wrong technology: "You fucking microserf!"
There's a strange sense of joy I feel about someone being upset that he made a blockchain app. In some parallel universe we're still in the old world of the '90s culturally and engineers go online to yell at each other for which data structure they use. "You asshole! Did you just use distributed hash tables?!"
If you think (insert thing here) is genuinely evil, you might be inclined to rid the world of it. It may even make you seem like a better person (to god, to others in the same camp) because you are "cleansing" or "healing" the world through those efforts. It's self righteous
Thanks for reading the report and providing the tl;dr.
Another thing that caught my eye as I scanned the article was "rice products" which is obviously not just rice, and levels exceeded for "infant rice cereal".
So, it did sort of seem aimed at the market of inducing panic in new moms.
Also rice is a lot worse than other grains and brown rice is worse than other rice. Asian people in particular should diversify their diets. I'd note that Asian-Americans already have high PFAS levels because they use rice cookers.
Do you have a source about PFAs from rice cookers? My understanding is that Teflon in cookware, used at recommended temperatures, doesn't release PFAs. It's the Teflon manufacturing process that releases PFAs.
Teflon rice cookers don't really release PFAS at appreciable levels. Teflon is remarkably stable (and one of the reasons it was DuPont's miracle discovery).
PTFE's degradation point is 260C, but rice cookers only cook up to 100C (controlled).
The only source of PTFE is if they scratch or flake off over time, but this is usually visible.
Teflon cookware are more problematic in non-stick pans, where they do get heated to higher temperatures, especially for stir fries.
uh.. AI/LLMs were created to be smart, and they sometimes meet that expectation. We did not create parrots, we just get surprised when they show off intelligence
that is a crazy read, thanks for the added links. I wonder if these effects are all because it was trained on the internet, and the internet is generally outspoken on the left side?
how have you been able to use it at festivals? I tried it once and maybe the default settings are terrible but no communication could be achieved. There were dozens of other nodes that it found in a tight space and I think the entire network was saturated with pings/messages that I couldn't get mine to work. Are there settings to change that get around network saturation issues?
If you just want to talk to a few friends, don't bother with the default public mesh config, setup your own with encryption enabled.
Don't use longfast, use a higher speed setting if possible. Longfast will go 10km+ in optimal conditions and in a city environment, won't go any further than medfast.
Don't use the default radio channel, pick another one.
MAKE SURE ALL SYSTEMS ARE CONFIGURED IDENTICALLY - meshtastic is picky about all the radio settings being the same for bits to go through. It cannot figure out that the sender is using a faster/slower bitrate than you are so you will just get nothing. Do not attempt to use them until you've verified that all systems reliably send and receive messages in an uncontested environment. It's very easy to misconfigure meshtastic but once you do, fixing it in the field is going to be very difficult.

doesn't need to go through another device to capture the HDMI, it's built right in!
