Probably 78.0.0 as well which was released yesterday. The diff between 78.0.0 and 78.0.1 appears to be no-op from user perspective https://github.com/pypa/setuptools/compare/v78.0.0...v78.0.1

A yank may not actually be warranted in this circumstance. The change works for most users of setuptools; it's only a very specific configuration of (build-environment, setuptools-version, third-party-dependency) that can cause an issue.

This is one of those situations where the scale of the software package is so large that even if only 0.1% of users had issue, that's a number representing tens of thousands of people.

Copyright ByteDance? Ouch

Surely Spotify wouldn't be able to publish if it wasn't paying $100/year fee to Apple. I guess $100 is nothing to Apple.

I had a similar offer but I had a gut feeling it wasn't a good idea at the time and I feel somewhat vindicated by the comments in this thread.

Looks like the Guardian have already amended the temperature differences in the article in question according to the footnote: https://www.theguardian.com/world/2023/oct/17/malawi-swelter...

It says 20C for me and I’m in the US/have everything set to US English. Is my browser telling it I prefer Celsius somehow (I do have the weather app on my phone set to Celsius) or did they change it to Celsius for everyone?

Looks great! What this now needs is a nice Web UI and also convince major players to adopt it. It would be in their interest to assure users that they can take their data with them (even though most people probably wouldn't).

Bob looks an awful lot like Bill Gates.

Melinda Gates was marketing manager, so maybe it was intentional.

So happy this is finally here! Been waiting months for this!!

Available for $12.95

My two pence: It’s not a very sexy name for a language compared to the competition.

I assumed it was an "objective" version of the S programming language[1], but it appears it is not.

1. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/S_%28programming_language%29

Yep. Still working on it.

Suggestions?

General Purpose Language, since it is the world’s first general purpose language.

Arguably, it should be First General Purpose Language then. Might also help avoiding confusion if the implementation isn’t GPL.

I was also thinking of Architectural Programming Language, but APL..

Arches? Arch? (There was ArchJava, so there's a precedent).

ArchTalk?

Architecture Oriented Language, or just AOL for short.

Objective-C has objective because C itself is not objected oriented. Objective-Smalltalk would be redundant. How about StepTalk or SmallStep? to honor the NextStep heritage, you know.

Objective-See?

The tagline could be "Objective-See is like Objective-C without the C"

Marwel ;)

Hum Because it’s the ongoing humble of the background machines

Objective-Swift? :P

Dylan 2.0

BigTalk!

Definitively not that one!

Big agree! :)
