They certainly didn't vanish for me in Cornwall in 1999. I hope you have better luck in the US in April!

Probably high altitude clouds. An eclipse isn't going to make clouds vanish that are the result of a larger weather pattern.

The air cools down so the warm moist air settles as it cools. As a result, clouds stop developing.

Tell me about it! At least I got to see Orbital...

Yup, any astrological phenomenon seems to attract clouds here. The red arrows too.

Why It's Ok To Eat Meat

Interesting that the list of fowls and beasts also includes (if I'm reading it right):

A bevy of ladies, A herd of harlots.

I always remember my friend who works in VFX telling me he spent all week working on James Bond riding a pig. Which gave me some high hopes for the movie!

Wasn't the control every other year before COVID?

Work during COVID had a lot of other things impacting it (e.g., extreme stress, being new to RTO, massive macro economic shifts).

The word "control" comes from "controlling confounding factors except for the factor being studied", which is definitely not the case when comparing COVID era work to pre COVID work.

It was bad then, today it would probably be different. At least after one big artist breaks that barrier, then people won't care much.

Another reference book I've always loved is Brewer's Dictionary of Phrase and Fable. It's been around since 1870, and you can always flick through it and find something interesting.

There was another crypto challenge like this somewhere, it had a similar start IIRC, building up from simple encodings to basic cyphers, but you had to put your answer for one question into the website to reveal the next question.

I lost the link before I ever got too far in, any ideas what I am remembering?

Thanks

The one mentioned in one of the earlier comments of this thread?

Thanks, yes - might well be the CryptoHack suggestion. If so it's certainly been redesigned since I last looked.

"Rental revenue is shared with the management company, and owners typically pay no upfront fees for management, which includes the marketing and reservation of the units.[citation needed] Typical monthly fees for units in the rental pool include FF&E (Furniture, Fixtures and Equipment) reserve and resort fee(s). Although the revenue splits between owner and management company do vary from project to project, most hover around 50 percent."
