Founder loneliness is a challenge we often overlook in the unpredictable journey of entrepreneurship, one that I've personally faced since I started at the age of 17. Amid the highs and lows, a constant struggle has been finding a true sense of belonging – a community where I can be open about my challenges and ambitions without wearing a mask.

Caught up in the grind, I unintentionally prioritized work over everything else, neglecting my well-being and personal life. It took a toll on my businesses, leaving me feeling alone and isolated. It made me question if this was the life I truly wanted. Despite running multiple successful businesses, I found myself unhappy and unable to sleep peacefully. So, I decided to sell my businesses and take a break. During this quest for a happier life, I discovered the importance of social connection to combat loneliness and isolation.

I faced the challenge of having no friends or social circles, actively searching for opportunities to create deep meaningful connections with people. This led me to diverse experiences - joining dance classes, yoga sessions, playing football and golf, going bowling, attending parties, festivals, cafes, joining book clubs, participating in mental health workshops, and more. Regardless of my discomfort with small talk, I embraced any opportunity to meet people.

Surprisingly, I found that I was happier when surrounded by people, despite being an introvert. Spending time on real-life activities with loved ones and strangers allowed me to shut down and reset, leading to increased productivity, motivation, and overall happiness at work.

Let’s be honest, finding people with whom you can have deep meaningful conversations and who understand the founder's journey is a challenge. But, when you do, sharing vulnerability strengthens bonds, and the support uplifts us in times of need.

Reflecting on my experiences, I pondered how founders could lead happier lives while navigating the emotional rollercoaster of building companies. What tools could support our emotional, mental, and social well-being?

Conversations with hundreds of founders revealed similar challenges, prompting me to question the lack of solutions for holistic well-being in the entrepreneurial community. Numerous founders mentioned that excessive stress and relentless pressure negatively affect their overall performance, impacting decision-making, creativity, and team collaboration. Brian Chesky's admission of loneliness highlighted that regardless of the stage, staying emotionally and socially in check is crucial.

I conducted experiments with a small group of founders, including myself, and was surprised by the positive impact of maintaining a personal life outside of work, which significantly increased performance. Building relationships and connecting with peers for support emerged as a vital factor in performing well at work.

As a founder, I embraced the importance of investing time in my well-being, spending time with loved ones, and not requiring permission to prioritize personal well-being over work. I decided to make it my life’s mission to build tools to help nurture people’s well-being, allowing them to live happier lives.

So, I'm reaching out to all founders, entrepreneurs, and business owners. Let's join hands in building a network of visionaries, builders, and operators to support the mission of creating an ecosystem that encourages peer support and a sense of belonging within our local and global founder community.

I have created a Slack channel to hear your thoughts and feedback on what tools you’d love to help you with your well-being journey. You can join here: https://join.slack.com/t/friendsofsofie/shared_invite/zt-2a7...

Hello founders,

My name is Bhavya Barot, I jumped feat and started my first company at 17 since then I built and sold two companies. During my journey I experienced stress, loneliness, and burnout and I realized I wasn't alone.

I talked to founders from YC, Techstars and others and it turns out, other founders go through the same problem. I decided I want to make this my mission to help other founders to become mentally healthier.

I am looking for founders who are facing this problem and can be our beta testers and actively share their feedback for the next couple of weeks. A key requirement for the beta is to onboard 1-3 other founders alongside with you for the solution.

If you are interested in this, please feel free comment below so I can share the next steps to get started. Let’s work on helping founders from loneliness, isolation and burnout together.

Thank you in advance.

Let me know your thoughts

For me it is in the “cool! but not something I desperately need” category.

I think it would be better as an AI for the thing I know I need now. But even then I would go straight to chatgpt, google or another ai search

Thank you for your feedback. I see your point.

We are currently testing the private beta with a select number of users then iterate from there :)

How does the AI know which tool if best for me? What data does it use for decision ? I'm a little bit doubt whether its recommendation is trustable if it is using the official product description and some friendly comments on ProdctHunt which hardly tell the truth of the product.

Here is a demo of the solution: https://youtu.be/hUoU8sFVI8Q

We ask a series of questions to understand the job and tasks you carry out. Based on that carryout recommendations on the tools.

On the other hand the products are pre-vetted high quality tools with a short high quality selection.
