For me, I learn mostly for practical use, so for instance I want to build a markov chain generator:

- I refresh up on probabilities in general

- I look at the markov chain wiki article

- I look at related pages to see what else I could do

- etc. (goto step 2/3)

I will say it: Wikipedia. You do need to have the common knowledge used to describe the topics but Wikipedia is an amazing source.

(out of your list, I mainly looked at Game Theory, Probability, and Statistics there).

Chrome has a built-in ad blocker that blocks the ads Google finds too disruptive for the users: https://www.zdnet.com/article/google-chromes-built-in-ad-blo...

I'm betting none of those would be an 'Ad by google' in which case this is very unethical (I'm pro adblocking but google is targeting competitors)

Seems to be a lightweight shell that links to their wiki: https://code.jsoftware.com/wiki/Jd/Overview

Yea...sorry! I got excited and posted the link before realizing the majority of the site was still using the old wiki layout. Please forgive. I think the new landing page does look nicer and more modern.

I'm having trouble with the google cache version too, so here is the archive.org version: https://web.archive.org/web/20190408150115/https://misfra.me...

The "thank you" emails seems to be a tradition/expectation of the classic corporate culture where the employer has a extreme amount of candidates for each opening and each candidate must please the interviewer at all cost. (e.g. a extreme imbalance in power between employer/candidate).

Quite contrary to the "startup" culture where there is a limited amount of candidates for each opening and where it's acknowledged that candidates might get multiple offers (e.g. a more balanced employer/candidate power)

What would be interesting is that we move away from domain blacklists (e.g. adblocks, /etc/hosts, pi hole, etc.) to domain/ips whitelists (like firewalls).

> If you want another database such as PostgreSQL, MySQL et al, you must deploy them in another container as an addon.

Sounds like a pain.

They are listed on the dashboard, you point and click, select the version you want and the database is ready and running. There is no requirement on your part to handle the installation.

Would you call it a managed database, i.e. does it come with continuous backups and things like that?

Nope not managed. Only the Shared MongoDB database is managed. Does not provide continuous backups although planned only snapshot backups at the moment. We intend to offer a managed shared offering for the other databases as well but not a priority as MongoDB was and still is the most requested database.

Hi, do you handle something similar to buildpacks and heroku addons? The price is very attractive. I should get around to try it this week.

> On the last day of trial, Serrin Turner, the NY lead prosecutor, addressed the jury and stated that none of the six contracted murders-for-hire allegations occurred.[28] One charge of procuring murder was originally filed in October 2013 in a separate pending indictment in Maryland (which was later dismissed in its entirety in July 2018);[8] the other five allegations were never filed.[38]

> stated that none of the six contracted murders-for-hire allegations occurred

That makes it sound like the prosecutor said that the contracts didn't occur. The way it's worded in the source Guardian article is "The prosecutor says he does not believe any of the killings have occurred."

In other words the prosecutor is contending that Ulbricht took out 6 unsuccessful contracts.
