What ends up being maddening is when the interrupter is wrong about the direction that the talker intends the conversation to go, and you end up in endless digressions from the intended focus.
I have no doubt you're correct, however if the same model were applied in the US it would automatically be seen as racist. And I know you use the word 'ethnicity,' but I posit that no one over here thinks in such nuanced terms, so you'd still end up with the conclusion that this way of living is racist.
Which I suppose says something: maybe race concerns are so highlighted in the US precisely because we do aim to be more inclusive over all.
When I first looked at Huginn, it wouldn't run on ARM (raspberry pi). I eventually just went with Python3, Cronjobs, and an app called Pushover (push notifications). No visual niceties, but it works rather well for my purposes.
I have scripts for:
- checking exchange rates
- checking the price of wine or other products
- sending me the latest messages that interesting people on HN post
- etc.
One thing I've noticed about these quandaries: there's very little consideration for what one owes their society. Doing something in service to others may not bring an immediate 'happiness' but if you're looking for satisfaction in life, it's worth including in the balance equation.
And perhaps that's what the work you're doing can provide, if viewed from that perspective. Too many people seem to just automatically view work as soulless BS, to which I might suggest those people are simply in the wrong career.
This is all a pretty good argument in favor of conservatism, especially the last bit. There are plenty of cultural practices that preserve or promote something valuable in society, and maybe we don't even know why they work. But they do.
Kind of like NNs...sure, maybe if you spent enough time, you could figure out exactly how each one is doing what it's doing. Or, you could accept the general principles and enjoy the results.
