They also announced a Linux version in early 2026.

You're probably aware, but they recently added the actual cost of used tokens on the Billing page. This is much better than the token count on its own.

By "I've been measuring my token count", I do mean "I've been reading my billing page and comparing my token count month over month", but thanks for pointing that out so it's clear.

What the billing page doesn't go into detail about is number of searches caused by The Assistant, number of FastGPT searches, and number of regular searches. I'm curious because I'd like to track my tendencies; whether I am slowly using AI more than search, or if it stays the same. And FastGPT is a grayzone.

Another trap I see in your list is wasting 3-4 hours for unpaid work:

- 2 hours commute daily? This seems crazy. Never had such a commute and most of my life I could walk or cycle to the university/work, so I gained some free exercise time.

- 1 hour overtime daily? What for?

- Lunch outside of work? (This is where my additional hour came from) Thankfully this never happened to me in my actual career.

> 2 hours commute daily? This seems crazy.

This is the norm in many places of the world. I live in London and am lucky to only need to take one tube train into the office. It's still 1 hour each way - 10 mins to station, 5 mins wait - if i'm lucky, but it could be as much as 15, 45 min train, another 10 mins walk, 1hr each way is just a good smooth day for me. Many of my colleagues have even longer journeys. I only belabour this because I actually feel lucky in the length of my commute compared to many people in the UK.

As for 1hr overtime daily - if you're a salaried employee you aren't doing overtime to begin with, you're just doing your job - sure you can just not, but it probably won't go in your favour - at most agencies I've worked (this is in the UK) I was asked (i.e. required) as part of the onboarding to opt out of the working hours directive (https://www.gov.uk/maximum-weekly-working-hours/weekly-maxim...). There was no overtime, there was just work.

Good luck for you. Here in Munich, I have multiple colleagues who commute 1.5h single direction, I myself (since I can't afford rent in that fucking city, so gotta commute in from Landshut) have anything from 1 to 3 hours one way depending on how shitty the train service is on that day.

> - 1 hour overtime daily? What for?

I work in the creative industry. Thankfully we are a unionized shop which means we're not affected by that problem too much - but virtually everyone I know from other agencies that are not unionized is working easily 50 hour weeks. Every company in the industry has decimated staffing, much more than the incoming work fell, so everyone is working extra to not be the next whose head rolls.

Germany has a mandatory 30 minute break by law during the day, in practice it's more like 45-60 minutes.

Probably Peta => Peter who is one of the main characters in the show.

It's what iPad does when you use a mouse. https://web.archive.org/web/20200602200001/https://www.apple...

Is that meant to be an argument in favor of it? That it's what the iPad does for the extremely rare case of a user using a mouse with it?

Just information. I don’t know rare this case is, I use my iPad mostly with magic keyboard which has a touchpad.

Honestly it doesn’t bother me at all because it only applies to UI elements and not the websites link or buttons.

It sucks on there too. Thankfully it can be toned down/disabled there.

For me it's exactly other way around. First window is fast, another file is slow.

I never was a pro at Adobe stuff, but recently I bought Affinity Suite and it seems nice. The only downside for me is lack of Linux support.

I have a different issue. First window of Excel starts fast, but try to open another file and you'd think that I just didn't click on it. 10 second wait times and I'm on a private machine without any corporate bloat.

I noticed that too. Double click xlsx outside Excel and wonder if it did anything.

But if you open the 2nd spreadsheet (File > Open) from inside Excel, it opens up a lot faster in a separate window.

I don’t think I’m a power user and I’m constantly over 1000 searches / month. Just a few days ago I upgraded my plan to the highest tier to play with the better models and in a few days it’s gonna renew for a year at this tier.

If I’m gonna use the AI assistant with web access I’d assume my searches are gonna go up even more.

This. I didn’t know it was EU only thing, but sometimes you have a map displayed in Google search results and there’s no way to actually go to Google Maps beside clicking “directions” button (and I think even this button isn’t always there).

Just recently I’ve created a bang in Kagi which redirects me to Google Maps roughly around my home with a query that I typed.
