Exactly this. The black box in this case is a problem because it's not in my computer. It transfers the users data to an external entity that can use this data to train it's model or sell it.

Not everyone uses their browser just to surf social media, some people use it for creating things, log in to walled gardens to work creatively. They do not want to send this data to an AI company to train on, to make themselves redundant.

Discussing the inner workings of an AI isn't helping, this is not what most people really worry about. Most people don't know how any of it works but they do notice that people get fired because the AI can do their job.

No, a tank is obviously better at all those things. They should clearly be used by everyone, including the paratrooper. Never mind the extra fuel costs or weight, all that matters is that it gets the job done best.

The office you are talking about is not what it used to be a few decades ago. I am not into this world but what I know of it is like you are comparing a tool to the whole workshop. No, the tool does not replace the workshop, the tool is a very small part of the workshop.

There are alternatives but when you have bought into the full ecosystem of MS, it will take a lot of work to move.

(Full disclosure: I work with both Linux and Windows at a small company where Office means what you mean with office. They are all using libreoffice but call it office)

Not only american portions. I'm a remote worker since 20+ years. My first visit to the main workplace eating lunch was a revelation. The portion size was gigantic! And my coworkers (none having a physical job) was done within 15 minutes while I took a lot longer to not even finish half of my portion. It was at least five times my normal lunch portion. Insane. And the prices were lower than our village.

It's a bit worse now [1] with Trump in lead.

that's a great talk - from the cited executive order:

There are common recurrent motivations and indicia uniting this pattern of violent and terroristic activities under the umbrella of self-described “anti-fascism.” [ . . . ] Common threads animating this violent conduct include anti-Americanism, anti-capitalism, and anti-Christianity; support for the overthrow of the United States Government; extremism on migration, race, and gender; and hostility towards those who hold traditional American views on family, religion, and morality.

Absolutely insane Orwellian doublespeak... being against fascism, what our country fought for in WWII, is now "terrorism" and equal rights regardless of skin color, as guaranteed by the US constitution is now "race extremism."

If I understood the follow up blogpost right, it states that there is a lot of email adresses where the only hit is the email domain so they are filtering away that as false positives. Not all stolen credentials are properly aligned and encoded with ; on the correct place I guess :-)

There might be a lot less gmail adresses showing up as pwned now.

Not to mention the functions are also translated to the other language. I think both these are the fault of Excel to be honest. I had this problem long before Google came around.

And it's really irritating when you have the computer read something out to you that contains numbers. 53.1 km reads like you expect but 53,1 km becomes "fifty-three (long pause) one kilometer".

> Not to mention the functions are also translated to the other language.

This makes a lot of sense when you recognize that Excel formulas, unlike proper programming languages, aren't necessarily written by people with a sufficient grasp of the English language, especially when it comes to more abstract mathematical concepts, which aren't taught in secondary English language classes at school, but it in their native language mathematics classes.

It's not completely true that the mosquitos don't carry things here. We do have something called Tularemia [1] (Harpest). Also it seems the first mosquitos for the season are more potent that later during the year.

And for personal anecdotal evidence, my wife gets more problems with mosquitos here than I do. When we visit her home country I get more problems than she does.

A small cost to enter just means the capital still controls the narrative. As long as we can't even stop bullying physically in schools, we will not be able to have a civil social media. Start in the kindergarten and fix the problems with next generation or it will just get worse.

You could even download a wikipedia article, do your changes to it and upload it to 250 githubs to strengthen your influence on the LLM.
