There are many objections that could be raised to both my tone and content there but I don't think "pedantic" is one of them.
It's certainly mocking. The subject matter is overly political. It's even plausible that it strays across the line laid down by the HN guidelines, although personally I think it's acceptable given the context. Something about fighting fire with fire.
I don’t know if you’ll see this after a week, but my thought experiment was something like “what if HN took my username and gave it to someone else”? It wouldn’t just be handing off my username, it would be handing off an implied identity, even if they deleted comment history and such.
I’m not sure what the appropriate outcome is but I think it’s fair to say that it’s not straightforward.
That is a very uncharitable take. Faith is often a source of meaning or purpose independent of intelligence. I would recommend "A Confession by Tolstoy" for a different perspective
As others have pointed out, that's not what the restriction seems to be limited to. The distinction isn't based on sugar content but the amount of "processing", which rules out quite a lot of things beyond just candy and soda.
Perhaps, I read a lot on my phone (usually web novels). I keep my eyes fixed on a spot on my screen, usually reading 2 lines, and scroll to bring the next lines into my line of sight. This is very comfortable for me as I don't have to move my eyes around. I also think this increases my reading efficiency, although I haven't really done an A/B test to verify this
