I think you are overlooking the fact he is focusing on the built up "expectation".

It's perfectly obvious the media (social and news) went OTT with this story, but the follow up reality check fell flat.

That's his angle.

The reality check is boring, as it affirms the status quo. Doubly boring because the Samsung story is yesterday's news.

It needs to overcome any number of more interesting stories that are both more timely and more novel.

1. By all reports Google is shying away from Android.

2. Apple losing market share to hoards of cheap spam-ware phones? I'm sure Google isn't as excited about this as you think.

Could you substantiate any of the claims? I'm surprised to hear that Google is shying away from Android or that they don't want Android to be used on as many devices as possible.

They are not shying away. I listen to Google earnings reports, and they are as gung ho about Android as ever. I did not reply to the grand parent, because I did not want to go off on a tangent.

You could always move to Windows 8.1

I'm grateful they took security so seriously.

Yes I'd like to know too. As the top post mentions, the documentation really needs to hightlight the benefits over established popular libraries.

Not sure how a basic tutorial makes it to the homepage?

Nice post, thanks.

I wish http://www.mapbox.com/ was a little cheaper so it could be a viable alternative for smaller startups.

Love Google Maps. Hate that they dominate this important space so heavily.

Gaming the ranking system.

That's Apples #1 concern.

Don't panic over the other issues listed.

For example, AppGratis tried to rally developer sympathy by claiming this rule was being used : "Apps that are not very useful, unique, are simply web sites bundled as Apps, or do not provide any lasting entertainment value may be rejected."

And while that rule is ridiculous and too generic, it wasn't what caught Apple's attention.

Gaming the ranking is what concerns Apple.

Is the guy in the brown top meant to be walking away WITHOUT a backpack?

Because I can't see either way. He looks like me MIGHT still have a backpack on.

Also the backpack seems small based on what's meant to be in it?

Wonderful, I'll be checking this blog regularly.
