In my last posting, I shared a game I have been running, in different contexts: Quick Hei$t. The game came to me during a bit of session prep. I wanted to give players the room to move around without the rules getting in the way. Most legacy games a tricky to tackle with new players, especially class-based games.


This is QUICK HEI$T, a one-shot, game-nite-friendly tabletop roleplaying game. You play as con artists, bank robbers, or hackers, looking to accomplish the next big theft. Every job begins with an empty rectangle, and this empty rectangle holds what you want to steal or break free. Every player’s character has their agendas and motivations—some of these are going to conflict.


Hit-point mountains in the current version of D&D are one thing I have trouble with. Why should anything, even a monster, have more than thirty (30) hit points?
