Cubozoa are ripe for study if you're curious about primitive vision and its applications. They are notoriously venomous, so handle with care, but if we can trust undergrads with caring for them in the lab I trust the average tinkerer can work out how to not get stung. In a way, yes. You can easily write a program that recursively enumerates all provable theorems in some order. But if you want a proof of a specific theorem, how do you find it in the list? You need to encode the theorem in a formal syntax first, and since mathematics is built on towers of definitions referencing other definitions, that alone is a significant amount of work before you can even write down what you want to prove.
If you want brute force alone, specialized solvers are likely a better choice than LLMs, but what LLMs add to the table is the ability to work with mathematics as it has already been written down. And even though they're bad at brute-forcing, they're still better at it than humans.
An example of a good division of labor is the SAT Attack on Tarski's High School Algebra Problem https://arxiv.org/abs/2608.08421 where they construct a formula with O(n⁴) variables and O(n⁶) clauses and use a SAT solver to show that it is unsatisfiable for n ≤ 11 but satisfiable for n = 12. Then they use an LLM to help them write a Lean proof that the SAT solver input is equivalent to the human-readable description of what they wanted to prove.
Sports club and volunteering are neither restorative nor relax. Sports are another competitive activity you are supposed to excel at. You dont do it to rest and relax.
You come in and do what you are told. You don't chat with friends or play around, you focus on whatever trainer told you to focus at. You dont do what you want to do, but what trainer thinks will make you more performant. And if it hurts or you are tired or just really want to do something else, you still do it.

I took off work to drive from Houston to Little Rock to see the eclipse at 100% and I'm so glad I did. I can't imagine prioritizing a temporary job over a once in a lifetime event.
I had a colleague who really wanted to see the eclipse but felt bad about taking off from work, so he didn't go. He ended up being laid off within a year. I feel terrible for him. I also learned how important it is to keep perspective on what matters.
I gave Delphi a shot, but after setting up my account I got a few phone calls a few days later about it to sell me on it. I was genuinely surprised companies still did that in 2024/2025.
I’ve known a lot of Ivy League graduates and they were all very smart. Most of them were very good people, too. A lot of them came from backgrounds that didn’t include wealth or social connections.
This goes against the stereotypes you read online, but many of them are motivated by a desire to sneer and cut down others’ achievements. Look up “tall poppy syndrome” for one phrase describing this phenomenon.
Ok, I've investigated Confluence some more. Publishing a diagram from Line9 Pro gives you a stable URL that serves a pre-rendered SVG and which updates when you modify the Mermaid. This can easily be displayed in Confluence by inserting an image from a link. Problems I found: 1) you'd need to published with public visibility 2) Confluence appears to cache the image, so updates don't appear in the page. Doing this properly in Confluence will need an app, which I don't have yet.
The University I went to has like an 80% acceptance rate so it's not comparable, but I was surprised when I got into 400-level CS classes and there were people who didn't know how to program at all.
Our professor assigned us to write a fast fourier transform, and when we had class next week apparently everyone claimed that it was too difficult so he changed the assignment to "find an implementation online and write about it"
I feel really grateful I graduated before the advent of LLMs because it was really easy to stand out as a good student when the standards are apparently so low.
Side tangent but in the same class he caught people zero-citation copy-pasting from Wikipedia on the papers we were assigned to write, and the guys acted like they had no idea you couldn't do that.
