Easy, add a leading 0... Oh wait they probably store them as integers, but then it wouldn't matter how many digits... Oh wait some places it's fixed length strings
trailing zero works with integer storage,
i.e. old 1234 becomes 12340 and new flight number could be 12345.
Mentally if the number has significance for sort order etc, you can think they are like decimals they would be 1234.0 and 1234.5, when not set in older systems it can be ignored i.e. 1234.0 is same as 1234.
Reporters having a panel discussion on teevee. I stopped the video and read each of the supporting print stories that flashed by and they were perfect, too.
I had a friend in that situation one year. He reported some imaginary income that brought him up over that limit. Paid the tax on it, received the subsidy, and was able to continue with his existing ACA healthcare plan (and doctors, and etc).
Oh wow, good to know about other people who went that route. I was also considering getting a friend to pay me "consulting fees" for their business, and then I'd silently gift back the money ... but, as above, ick.
My favorite start up, with regard to cashflow, was where the CEO would tell us at every company meeting how many months of cash we had in the bank at our current burn. They pissed me off in other ways, though, and I never heard how they treated people when they finally shut their doors.
My sister got bit by one of these when she googled a name brand PC support company that she had used before. The search results included a phone number that connected her to these hackers. From there, they pretty much followed the steps outlined. She lost pretty much a full month's income. Because she withdrew the money herself (to transfer to bitcoin), the bank fraud department wouldn't get involved. (No idea if she contacted the state agencies I recommended.)
I almost listened to someone scam my mom in realtime when he had a flight delay issue. She was calling American Airlines support, but apparently she googled something like "American Airlines delay support" and clicked on the first ad. I overheard her begin reading her credit card information and stopped her and took the phone. They probably would have done the whole remote access scam thing but we were at the airport without any computers.
This is why in-line search ads are simply evil. They get their click through rate from fooling people, not from convincing them to click an ad on purpose. Which, aside from that being evil already, also makes them super-useful to scammers, since a high percentage of clicks are from people who think they clicked an organic search result.
And which area of Portland? I've had generations of neighbors who I've never spoken with, or just hello'd. None that I've even sat down to dinner with.
We're in NE (Eliot neighborhood). We've lived in our current place for about 3 years and have also barely spoke with our neighbors. I think I've only seen the next door neighbors about 4 times.
For the record, I'm not trying to get into a 45 minute convo. It would just be nice to have a little friendly banter from time to time. I appreciate that different places have different cultural norms, otherwise the planet would be a very boring place. But getting consistently iced out by strangers is kind of a bummer.
A crying child right next to me is difficult, but I've never blamed the parents. A crying child a couple rows away? Somehow relaxing to know someone else is having a worse flight than I am. (Either the kid or the parent.) It's just not the end of the world, and its temporary for both of us. Easier (for me) to accept than an adult playing a video without headphones.
